M.C.C. Pyramid Ladder Challenge Rules
Levels range from 1 through 11, with 1 being the highest achievement.
All cases.
Levels range from 1 through 11, with 1 being the highest achievement.
- USCF tournament rules apply (touch move, record moves, cell phones off, do not disturb players/opponents, only an opponent can call attention to illegal moves and clock issues, etc.).
- Players must sign up for the Pyramid in advance of their 1st game.
- A player’s position on the Pyramid is a result of her/his wins, draws and losses, and not by USCF rating.
- All players must start at the 11th level, and work their way up the Pyramid.
- If playing at a public venue, be sure that the game will end before closing time.
- Games must be at least G/30 or longer between active players within the Pyramid.
- If a time control cannot be agreed upon, then G/45 will be the imposed default, unless there is a time constraint due to the venue’s closing hours.
- No adjournments.
- The TD must be notified of a challenge game by both parties in advance for pre-approval.
- Games can be played offsite with pre-approval from the TD.
- If both parties are USCF members in good standing, pre-pay the rating fees, and agree to the match, then the game can be rated. Please note that many time controls effect both your quick and regular rating by default, and cannot be individually specified.
- A reschedule has to be TD pre-approved in order to not result in forfeiture as a result of absence. If both players miss a game it is nullified, and any future challenges must adhere to placements on the Pyramid.
- To leave the Pyramid, you need to first end any games that you are currently committed to (even if it means a resignation forfeiture). Then you need to notify the TD that you are leaving. You would have to restart on Level 11 if you later rejoin the pyramid.
All cases.
